As the world’s only and first humanistic organization that looks after seafarers, the Seafarer’s Social Service Oldenburg (SSSO) took part in the conference of the „International Seafarer’s Welfare and Assistance Network“ (ISWAN) in Helsinki for the first time from November 16th to 17th, 2024. Our Port Welfare Officer Till Andrzejewski and SSSO CEO Jürgen Steinecke were able to exchange ideas intensively with international representatives of the maritime industry for two days. In discussions with colleagues from other clubs for seafarers, for example from Nigeria, Puerto Rico, India and France, we were able to gather a lot of valuable insights that are of great benefit to our work at
50miles in Oldenburg. Of course, a lot of contacts were made and new, interesting insights into international financial funding opportunities were gained. Under the motto: “Always striving to improve the living conditions of seafarers worldwide”, we say goodbye with a few impressions from Helsinki!
